Symrise has officially broken ground on the second phase of construction for its new logistics center in Holzminden. With an investment of approximately 25 million euros, the company is expanding its logistics capacity, increasing supply chain efficiency, and reinforcing its Holzminden headquarters as a central hub in its global logistics network.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in Symrise‘s long-term development strategy and signals a clear commitment to its Holzminden site. The project is part of the Vision 2035 infrastructure program, through which Symrise is making targeted investments at the site over the coming years. Completion of the second construction phase is planned for March 2028. The expansion follows the company’s broader growth trajectory, which also includes the recent establishment of the new Care & Wellness Division within its Scent & Care segment.
Symrise Plans Fully Automated High-Bay Warehouse
The second construction phase will connect directly to the existing logistics building and strategically complement the current infrastructure. Symrise is planning a fully automated high-bay warehouse with around 10,000 shelf spaces, measuring approximately 98 meters in length, 22 meters in width, and 24 meters in height, as well as a two-story connecting building measuring approximately 52 meters in length. The new center will be operated by Symotion, Symrise‘s wholly owned logistics service provider, increasing capacity, optimizing material and goods flows, and improving efficiency across the value chain.
Symrise Strengthens Holzminden Site and City Infrastructure
Beyond expanding internal capabilities, more efficient logistics processes and optimized transport structures are expected to benefit traffic flow in the city of Holzminden, contributing positively to residents’ quality of life and the city’s infrastructure. As a state-of-the-art, fully automated logistics hub, the center directly supports Symrise‘s strategic priorities: operational excellence, a targeted global footprint, and infrastructure consistently designed to perform.
Over the next few years, we will build more than a logistics center for Symrise at this site. We are investing in the future of our headquarters in Holzminden while at the same time strengthening our global positioning. As a state-of-the-art, fully automated, and digitalized logistics hub, this project reflects our ambition to create a company designed to perform. The digitalization of processes creates greater transparency and efficiency and supports our transformation into ONE Symrise. In this way, we create real added value for our customers and can support them quickly, flexibly, and reliably around the world. This groundbreaking ceremony sends a clear signal of growth and shows how consistently we are developing our infrastructure.”
