1. Introduction / scope

We (Inter-Euro Medien GmbH, operating as EURO COSMETICS) respect your privacy and take the protection of your personal data seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect via our website (eurocosmetics-mag.com and subpages), why we collect it, on what legal basis we process it, how long we keep it and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Using our website is generally possible without providing personal data. If you use special services (e.g., newsletter subscription, account registration, contact forms), processing of personal data may be required. Where processing requires your consent and no other legal basis applies, we will ask for your consent.

2. Key definitions

For clarity we use common GDPR definitions:

  • Personal data: Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (e.g., name, e-mail address, IP address).
  • Processing: Any operation performed on personal data (collection, storage, use, disclosure, deletion).
  • Controller: The natural or legal person who determines the purposes and means of processing personal data (here: Inter-Euro Medien GmbH).
  • Processor: A natural or legal person who processes data on behalf of the controller.
  • Consent: Freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous agreement to process personal data for one or more specific purposes.

3. Legal bases for processing

We process personal data only where we have a lawful basis:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — when you explicitly agree (e.g., newsletter signup, cookie consent).
  • Contract / pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — to fulfill contracts or pre-contractual obligations (e.g., purchases, subscriptions).
  • Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) — where required by law (e.g., tax and accounting retention).
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — when processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests (e.g., website security, fraud detection, service improvements) unless your interests override those interests.

Where special categories of personal data would ever be processed, we would rely on Art. 9 GDPR only where expressly permitted (e.g., explicit consent) — we do not typically request such data via the website.

4. What data we collect and why

4.1 Server log / technical data (automatically collected)

Each time our website is accessed, the server automatically logs technical information in server log files, which may include:

  • IP address (partially or fully), date/time of access, requested page/URL, HTTP status, referrer URL, browser type/version, operating system, and the ISP.

Purpose: Ensuring operation and security of the website, diagnosing faults, statistics, prevention/detection of abuse or attacks. This data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described.

4.2 Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to provide and optimize features and services: session cookies, functional cookies, analytics cookies and optionally advertising/marketing cookies.

  • Essential cookies (required for site functionality — no consent required).
  • Functional cookies (remember choices/preferences).
  • Analytics cookies (to collect usage statistics).
  • Marketing/third-party cookies (only with explicit consent).

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings and via our cookie consent mechanism. Blocking certain cookies may reduce site functionality.

4.3 Registration / user accounts

If you register on our website (e.g., to access subscriber content), we collect the data you provide in the registration form (e.g., name, e-mail, address, company, billing address). We also store the IP address and time of registration for security reasons.

Purpose: Provide account services, manage subscriptions and access control. Legal basis: contract / legitimate interest / consent depending on the context.

4.4 Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter we process your e-mail address and any voluntary information you provide. Subscription is performed via double opt-in; we store the timestamp and IP address of the subscription and confirmation for proof.

Purpose: Sending newsletters and marketing information. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) or legitimate interest when permitted by law. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in each newsletter or by contacting info@eurocosmetics.de

4.5 Contact forms & e-mail contact

Data you enter into contact forms or send by e-mail (name, e-mail, telephone, message content) is retained to process your inquiry and for follow-up questions. Legal basis: contract/performance of pre-contractual measures or legitimate interest.

4.6 Comments / user contributions

If the site allows comments or user content, we collect the information you provide (name, e-mail, content), and may also retain metadata (posting time, IP) for moderation and security. Legal basis: consent or legitimate interest.

4.7 Payment and order data

If you make purchases via our shop or subscription system we process the personal data needed to complete the purchase (name, billing/shipping address, payment details, invoice info). Payment processing may be performed by third-party payment service providers (details provided at checkout). Legal basis: contract and legal obligations.

5. Newsletter tracking

Our newsletters may contain tracking pixels (small invisible images) to determine whether an e-mail has been opened and which links have been clicked. This helps us measure the effectiveness of campaigns and adapt content to subscribers’ interests.

Legal basis: consent (double opt-in) or legitimate interest when legally permitted. You may revoke tracking by unsubscribing.

6. Analytics & third-party services

We may use third-party analytics and marketing services to understand and improve our website and services. These services may process personal data (including IP address) and may be located outside the EU; when this happens we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) or use processors who provide adequate protection.

Examples of services we may use (subject to consent where required):

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC, USA / EU representative): may collect pseudonymized usage data (IP anonymization can be enabled). Opt-out browser add-ons and Google’s privacy settings apply.
  • Matomo (open source / self-hosted): where used we prefer to operate Matomo on our own servers with IP anonymization when feasible.
  • Google Ads / Conversion Tracking: for campaign measurement (only with consent).
  • Social media integrations (see section 8).

We will list the exact analytics and advertising vendors in the website cookie/settings panel and in our processing records.

7. Social media plugins and embeds

We use social media plugins (e.g., Facebook/Meta, LinkedIn) to enable sharing and social interactions. When a page with a social plugin is opened, your browser may connect directly to the social network and data (including that you visited that page) may be sent to them. If you are logged into the social network, the visit may be linked to your social account.

If you do not wish that social networks receive data about your visit, log out from the social network before visiting our site and block third-party requests (e.g., via browser plugins).

8. Disclosure of data to third parties / processors

We may disclose personal data to:

  • Service providers / processors who operate services on our behalf (hosting, e-mail delivery, newsletter platforms, payment processors, analytics, CRM, marketing, IT support). We ensure these processors act under contract and only on our documented instructions.
  • Legal authorities when required by law, court order or to protect rights, property or safety.
  • Other third parties only with your consent or when necessary for contractual performance (e.g., shipping carriers).

Where transfers to countries outside the EEA occur (e.g., US providers), we implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses, provider certification) to protect your data.

9. Data retention / deletion

We store personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose of processing or to comply with legal retention obligations (e.g., tax and commercial law — typically up to 10 years for accounting records under German law). For other data:

  • Newsletter subscription data: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.
  • Contact form / inquiries: until the inquiry is finally processed and any statutory limitation periods expire.
  • Server logs: retained for a limited period for security/diagnostic reasons (time may vary; we delete or anonymize when no longer needed).
  • User accounts / subscriptions: as long as the account is active or longer if legal obligations apply.

When data is no longer required, we delete it securely or render it anonymous.

10. Your rights under GDPR

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data (subject to statutory conditions and exceptions):

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): obtain confirmation whether we process your personal data and access to that data.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — “right to be forgotten”: request deletion where legal grounds apply.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): request limitation of processing in certain cases.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): receive personal data you provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller where applicable.
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing — we will stop processing unless overriding legitimate grounds exist.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time: if processing is based on consent, withdrawal does not affect processing before withdrawal.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Germany: the Bavarian Data Protection Authority — BayLDA — or another supervisory authority where you live or work) if you believe processing violates the GDPR.

To exercise your rights, please contact us at info@eurocosmetics.de

(or by post to the address above). We will respond without undue delay and in any event within one month, or longer where complexity justifies an extension.

11. Automated decision making / profiling

We currently do not perform decisions based solely on automated processing (including profiling) that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you. If we intend to introduce such processing in future, we will notify you and, where required, obtain consent and implement safeguards.

12. Security measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk (encryption for transmission, access control, pseudonymization/aggregation where appropriate). However, internet transmissions are never completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Where you prefer, you may contact us by post or phone for particularly sensitive matters.

13. Legal or contractual requirement to provide data

Certain services require personal data in order to be provided (e.g., ordering a subscription or receiving invoices). If you do not provide such data, we may be unable to provide the service. Where provision is mandatory, we will make this clear at the point of collection.

14. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our processing practices or legal requirements. The updated policy will contain a revised “last updated” date. Significant changes will be highlighted.
